We all live with the purpose of being happy, our lives are different but all the same for we live to serve the same purpose of being happy. Mental health is one of the important factors for living quality life. There are many factors that affect the mental health of an individual. The most common factors are daily living, physical health, relationship, and career. In this 21st century, many people are suffering from mental health illness due to certain factors.It is reported that nearly 450 million people suffer from mental disorders.
Why is Mental Health important?
- Mental health illness may lead to several chronic diseases like diabetes, cancers, heart attack, etc.
- Poor mental health also weakens the immunity of our body system.
- Mental health illness leads to several problems like addiction, depression, anxiety, etc.
- Mental health is directly linked with a quality life. So if a person is having poor mental health his/her life gets disturbed.
What are the factors that affect Mental Health?
There are several factors that affects the mental health of an individual. Some of them are listed below:
- Genetics: Researchers have found that genetics are also responsible for several mental health issues that transfer through genes.
- Self-esteem: Thinking yourself as worthless or lacking self-respect is also a major factor for several mental illness problems. Low self-esteem is most common in the people from the age group 16-30.
- Loneliness: The feeling of loneliness leads to the development of anti-social thinking which gradually leads to anxiety and panic attacks.
- Overconsumption of toxic substances: The overconsumption of toxic substances such as alcohol, tobacco, drugs, etc also creates stress which leads to mental illness.
- Domestic violence and Grief and loss: Domestic violence and bullying also create mental health issues while grief and heavy loss makes huge impact on the brain of an individual.
What are the legit ways to be Mentally fit? or How to cope with mental health issues?
Below are some of the realistic ways that may help you to be mentally fit:
- Avoid using social media for a long period of time.
- Start to read books rather than being busy on social media.
- Do regular meditation and yoga.
- Share your problems with the closer ones i.e friends, family, relatives, etc.
- Listen to positive songs and watch positive movies.
