What is Technical Education?
The word Technology is derived from the Greek word 'techno' which simply refers to any art or skill while the term 'logia' means science or study. Technical education is a field of technology that supplies practical knowledge and ability. It simply means learning something about any specific work scientifically, theoretically, and practically. It is completely different from the general education. It makes learners expertise in a particular field. The people who possess technical education and skill are known as technicians. Doctors, scientists, engineers, electricians, etc. are some of the popularly known technicians.

It has a wider scope in the present context all over the world. Technical education is a branch of Vocational education. Technical education is not only limited to theory it is practical education which needs to be understood scientifically. It makes us skillful about machines and tools. It is a very important education as it is the era of modern science and technology. Only theoretical education is useless in present so to survive in this era one must need to have practical knowledge as well. There are certain fields of Technical education which include Mechanical, Civil, Electrical engineering, mining, commercial agriculture, etc. Without technical education, there is unbalance in the society.
Why is Technical Education important?
Well, there are numerous reasons for Technical Education to be important. Some of them are listed below:
- It is undeniable that Technical Education helps to secure the economic condition. It also helps to boost the economic growth. If there is more production and export of commodities it helps to elevate the poverty of any nation.
- A country can save a lot of capital because every year a country needs higher technicians from abroad which gradually increases the expenditure of the country. If there are sufficient Technicians in the nations huge amount of capital is saved.
- Technical education helps to make the country and the people independent. It helps to solve the unemployment problems of the nation. And on the other hand, the youths can work in their own country.
- Technicians help to conduct development works and projects. Without Technicians, no development can be run.
- It provides industries with a large body of trained workers which would in turn help to increase production and increase efficiency.
- Technical Education can play a significant role to produce skilled human resources which helps to create a favorable situation for running development works.
There are very few institutions that provide quality technical education. The future of the country depends on the youth so if the youths are mobilized properly in their respective sectors. It would create a huge impact and help to sustain the living.
