Pride Month Introduction

Pride Month is the month celebrated every year in the month of July, by the LGBTIQ community. Pride month i.e LGBTIQ month began from 1994 in the United States. It is celebrated by millions of the LGBTIQ community people. Several programs are conducted in the month of June for recognizing the LGBTIQ community and abolishing discrimination based on gender.
It is celebrated in order to make LGBTIQ community people survive in the society by getting equal rights and controlling discrimination.

Why Pride Month is celebrated?

Pride Month helps to raise awareness regarding the LGBTIQ community worldwide and protest for the issues that are being faced by these people. It is celebrated in order to promote the LGBTIQ community and live the way of life they want. It is also celebrated to develop a positive attitude of people towards the LGBTIQ community. People demand justice against violence and discrimination based on gender.

How is Pride Month celebrated?

People also conduct parades in their respective cities or states worldwide. The most renowned and largest parade is the New York Pride Parade with an estimation of nearly half a million people.  Street programs are conducted such as poetry, public speaking on this topic, different seminars, and motivational classes in different nations worldwide. Big celebrities also speak on this topic in order to aware people regarding the LGBTIQ community. Different charity funds are raised during pride month to donate for non-profit agencies working to solve the issues regarding the LGBTIQ community. People also praise the LGBTIQ community virtually, and physically.

What does the six-color flag represent in Pride Month?

It is used to denote the LGBTIQ community. The red color in the flag represents life, orange represents the spirit, yellow represents sunshine, green represents nature, blue represents harmony and purple represents spirit.

The nickelodeon has tweeted that Spongebob Squarepants belongs to the LGBTIQ community, as respect to the pride month.
